Oversees the implementation of parts of one or more of the following: pre-orientation programs, College Orientation, incoming student and family communications, virtual orientation events, send-off parties, peer mentoring, orientation team recruitment, the Academic Opportunities Fair, second and third year programming, student awards celebrations, and the build out of content for office-run mobile apps.
Assists all teams within the Office during the planning and development of various programs and assist with other projects and duties as assigned.
Coordinates event logistics for assigned programs including event registration, ordering buses, reserving space, catering, negotiating contracts and purchasing.
Advises student planning committees on relevant programs.
Manages event marketing materials; write, edit, and oversee the production and distribution of event publications.
Works with students and designers to develop and maintain information flow.
For certain events, recruits, selects, and evaluates student staff.
Develops student leader training and student project assignments.
Manages event budgets and websites.
Completes project evaluation and program assessment, and track data for each program.
Works closely with various campus offices including Alumni Relations & Development, Campus & Student Life, Career Advancement, Center for Identity + Inclusion, Center for Leadership and Involvement, College Academic Advising Office, College Admissions, College Center for Research and Fellowships, College Deanâ™s Office, Housing & Residence Life, Office of Civic Engagement, Office of the University Registrar, University Events & Ceremonies, and others to plan and execute programs.
Provides guidance and direction to student staff membersâ™ project work and evaluate staff membersâ™ performance/provide constructive feedback.
Communicates and discusses contract terms with outside vendors. Administers contracts. Maintains organizational records and archives relevant information and program materials. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Markets student activities programming throughout the year. Develops and implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of programs.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelorâ™s degree, liberal arts.
Masterâ™s degree in higher education/college student personnel or related field.
Minimally 2-5 years professional work experience in higher education or related field.
Specialized knowledge of college student development and event planning.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Proficiency in Mac and PC environments.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and online organizational tools.
Familiarity with Adobe graphic design/web development environments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including excellent editing/proofreading ability in English.
Handle multiple concurrent projects in a competent and professional manner while also managing details and meeting deadlines.
Work effectively with supervision and as a part of a team, individually, or in concert with other offices and campus partners.
