Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students.Â Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associateâ™s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university.Â SWCC also has associateâ™s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.Â JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Â Southwest Virginia Community College is in search of a part time adjunct faculty Information Technology/CompTIA instructor.Â This position will serve Southwest Virginia Community Collegeâ™s Workforce & Continuing Education Division and instructional workload will be based on demand in surrounding communities serviced by Southwest Virginia Community College.Â The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, and create a student-oriented learning environment.Â Classes may be offered day, evening, or weekends at onsite or offsite locations.Â RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Creates course curriculum, assignments, and assessments; refines and modifies as industry dictates.Expected to be reliable, responsible, professional, and efficient.Promotes and supports student success.Teaches Information Technology/CompTIA courses as assigned utilizing a curriculum that prepares and enables students to be proficient in targeted areas including, but not limited to:Â Microsoft Office applications, business software applications, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network +, CompTIA Security+, and overall student development to be able to effectively enter the workforce.Serve as an academic advisor to a diverse population of students.Other duties may be assigned as required.Â
The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge and advanced skills in communications, information technology, word/document processing, and overall talent training/development.Â These sets of skills must be documented with five years of relevant experience within the private and/or public sector.Â The successful candidate will possess an applicable certification in CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network +, and/or CompTIA Security+.Â Â Â Â
