Department leadership, supervision, and management of the Career Development Center
Develop and implement a vision, mission, strategic initiatives and assessment plan for the Career Development Center that encompasses the MSUM strategic anchors and Enrollment Management and Student Affairs strategic initiatives.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate professional, graduate, and student employees.
Lead and develop an innovative team based on the core values of grit, humility and heart
Prepare, plan, and manage Career Development Center operating budget.
Develop and implement effective operating policies and procedures.
Research, Implement new technology to better deliver services.
Provide career development services to students
Lead the CDC team to provide career coaching and guidance to help students assess and relate their interests, competences, and skills to employment market.
Develop and implement strategies and services (classes, workshops, career assessment, coaching, programming, career fair, etc.) to educate students about the range of career opportunities and types of employing organizations as well as the process to gain access to additional information and resources.
Develop and implement strategies to support on-campus employment options and lead and direct graduate assistant-ships and student employment on boarding, training, and development.
Provide guidance and assistance, as needed, to academic departments that require or encourage students to participate in graduate assistant programs and student employment.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and employers
Lead with the Assistant Directors to provide signature events for students and employers and build and sustain relationships with regional and area employers.
Collaborate with Deans and department chairs, faculty, academic advisors, and student organizations related to recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, orientation, training and development for students.
Serve as a leader and member of the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs leadership team.
Represent the Career Development Center to students, parents, MnSCU, professional organizations, and other significant external constituents and employers.
Education: Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, education, or related area, and three (3) years of experience in career services or a related field
OR Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of advanced professional experience in counseling, student affairs, education, or related area. Or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or advanced professional experience.
Experience with educational/career programming
Experience with budget and fiscal management
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to serve members and collaborate with campus and community partners.
Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience
Effective written communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with people of diverse backgrounds, including sensitivity to their needs and concerns
Experience leading a career development center in higher education
