Provides support to and works directly with the Project Manager of the Iowa Reading Research Center (IRRC) to create, develop, and implement engaging online instructional materials. Assists in all aspects of instructional support including content creation, animation, narration, LMS software administration, and reporting on the learning management system and problem solving.
This is a 12- month, specified term position with possibility for annual renewal. This full-time position is located on site in Iowa City, Iowa in the College of Education Iowa Reading Research Center.
About the Iowa Reading Research Center Iowa Reading Research Center strives to improve the literacy skills of all students through research with students, professional learning for educators, and technical assistance for school districts. The purpose of the Iowa Reading Research Center is to improve the literacy proficiency of pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade students. The Iowa Reading Research Center is part of the College of Education. It operates in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education.
Develop Instructional Materials
* May design, create, develop, and evaluate instructional or artistic materials; including course modules, H5P, SCORM, animations, PDFs, screencasts, or videos. * May evaluate the instructional effectiveness of the strategies and pedagogical/andragogical approaches used.
Instruct, Train, Consult, Support * Consult and collaborate with faculty and staff in area of reading and literacy education. * May administer and manage learning management system (Moodle).
Facilities/Technology Management * Support the application of technology (e.g. Moodle, online testing tools, and project management tools) within the Iowa Reading Research Center. * Operate and maintain complex software technologies, requiring specialized knowledge or skills.
Supervision * Train and mentor undergraduate student assistants; provide guidance regarding teaching materials and presentations.

Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in the field of education, educational technology, creative media, or related area, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Typical relevant experience 1-3 years. * Experience in instructional technology and various digital/online applications - including Adobe Captivate, Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop, or learning management systems. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Strong project management skills.
