The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time CSTEP Program Specialist for our Student Life Department. The CSTEP Program Specialist provides direct services to the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) students. Assists the Director in the development, implementation and evaluation the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP).
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Assists the Director with the coordination of CSTEP activities as outlined in the project grant;
Mentors and engages CSTEP students;
Prepares for and presides over pertinent presentations for CSTEP students and associated constituents;
Monitors day-to-day CSTEP purchases;
Supervises CSTEP part-time assistants;
Assists with recruiting students for the program;
Facilitates student improvement in study skills, reading, and writing;
Assists students with academic and career placement;
Provides life-skills coaching that fosters completion including but not limited to time management, organization and communication skills;
Assists with the review of CSTEP goals and objectives as needed;
Assists the Director with the collection and examination of statistical data in order to assist in the preparation of internal and external reports;
Develops relationships with other NYS CSTEP Programs;
Assists in the development of student internships and other programs within the community;
Develops, creates, and hosts (or otherwise provide for) workshops;
Keeps appropriate program and student records;
Coordinates visits to transfer colleges within NYS;
Other duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Director.
Experience working in a student support program and the ability to work with diverse student groups
Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout employment
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Higher education experience
