Reporting to the Dean of NYU School of Law, the Assistant Dean heads the Office of Career Services, managing a team of 13 professionals that provides high value support for students, including navigating the wide range of careers a NYU Law degree makes possible. The Assistant Dean will utilize comprehensive knowledge of a global legal market to manage a team of professionals who provide career services (counseling, job search skills workshops, recruiting and networking programs, job postings) to JD/ LLM students and alumni, for legal and non-legal careers. The strategist in this position will oversee the OCS budget, personnel, employer relations, and job search/career counseling and collaborate with School of Law departments, University divisions, and career professionals through local, regional, and national networks and bar associations.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, educator, influencer, and collaborator, who is community minded, recognizes the talent in each student/graduate, and enjoys leading a highly accomplished and diverse team.
Required Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or relevant Master's degree
Preferred Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or first professional law degree
Required Experience: 10+ years' progressively responsible experience with recruiting, career counseling, or related field, and experience developing and implementing student services and managing staff.
Preferred Experience: 10+ years working in college or law school administration. Background in career planning, placement and counseling.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to develop and direct various career and recruitment related activities, services, and outreach strategies. Excellent presentation, networking and verbal and written communication skills.
