Salary Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions Function: To provide career development assistance to UTSA students, alumni, and collaborate with campus partners in assigned areas; provide supervisory leadership to paraprofessional staff, assigned graduate assistants, and Career Consultant team members.
Scope: In conjunction with Career and Engaged Learning (CEL), provide career-consulting services to students, alumni, and campus partners; participate in planning and development of departmental policies; supervise assigned staff.
Administrative, Resource Literacy, and Management (30%)
Provide direct supervision to assigned Career Consultants.
Assist in hiring, training, and ongoing professional development for Career Consultant team members.
Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of departmental policies related to career development services.
Collect required data and assist in maintaining accurate database information. Prepare monthly reports as assigned, including but not limited to student/alumni engagement and implementation of CEL resources.
Collect required data for the use in semester and annual reports. Assist in writing annual and special reports as requested.
Under the direction of the Director, identify, develop, and improve procedural guidelines for Career Consultant team.
Collaborate with all staff to ensure understanding of office procedures and how they interrelate with other office functions.
Supervise and assist career-consulting team with the development of workshops and provide guidance regarding the most effective teaching/delivery methods.
Maintain knowledge in the use of current online tools and resources that assist students with a job search and building a professional network.
Experiential Learning and Program Development (30%)
Build strong working relationships with academic advising, success centers, departmental faculty, and staff. Support development of career development and experiential learning programs in assigned areas, leveraging CEL-curated tools to scale reach and track engagement. Support Career Consultants in their efforts to foster collaboration.
Collaborate with success centers, advising, and academic groups to provide services and programs that will enhance retention and graduation rates; maintain awareness of changes in curriculum.
Develop instructional materials and methods of delivery for workshops and events. Determine the most suitable methods for tracking engagement with targeted groups.
Participate in and support career expos, employer visits, and other events that increase awareness of experiential learning and career opportunities.
Use knowledge of resources related to labor and employment laws and guidelines to educate and assist Career Consultant team members. Assess situations involving students and employers for compliance with labor regulations and take action or elevate concerns to supervisor for action or intervention as necessary.
Establish and maintain presence in assigned areas (e.g. colleges, success centers) and/or office to provide career development related services.
Coordinate, assist, and participate in employer information sessions to market their employment opportunities. Recruit and market sessions to applicable students/majors; assist with tracking associated outcomes.
Consulting and Education (30%)
Provide career counseling and guidance, occupational information, professional development assistance, and employment search strategies for students and alumni, one on one and in groups. Develop and implement office-wide services available to students.
Conduct co-counseling sessions with Career Consultant team and on career development topics as needed.
Lead teach or co-teach CEL-related courses, including by not limited to UCS Personal Career Planning.
Educate students and alumni on use of CEL-curated, new, and emerging career readiness tools and resources.
Utilize advanced skills and experience to provide career-consulting for referred students; supervise judicial affairs referrals and report follow-up activities.
Provide professional development services to students and alumni such as resume reviews, job search skills, interview preparation, mock interviews, networking, and professional workplace competencies.
Perform outreach, recruit and prepare students in assigned areas to participate in career-related events and to make use of career resources.
Conduct professional development workshops and presentations for student groups in order to assist in development of career readiness skills.
Administer and interpret assessment tools in career exploration/planning sessions with students to assist them in understanding and articulating their career choices.
Provide current information about employment opportunities and labor market trends to students through the use of local, state and federal resources.
Professional Development (10%)
Seek out and participate in professional development activities to update skills and abilities as a Career Consultant.
Participate in appropriate and/or recommended professional reading to enhance knowledge of career development and career planning practices; lead monthly professional development discussion group among Career Consultant Team.
Participate in mandatory and voluntary university-hosted training and development opportunities that are applicable to the performance of job requirements and compliance.
Seek out and participate as a member or officer in professional organizations associated with higher education career development specialties.
Serve in interim capacity in the absence of the Director.
Assist in the review, selection, and implementation of new resources and tools as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Five years of experience in career coaching, advising, or counseling at a university, college or adult higher education setting, including two years supervisory experience.
Exceptional knowledge of career counseling and/or coaching techniques, career assessment and development tools, employment law and regulations, job search strategies, and labor market trends.
Tact, diplomacy, and discretion required in all matters.
Must possess outstanding ability to relate well to students and staff, as well as the community.
Must be an effective communicator.
Ability to mentor and assist in the training and professional growth of Career Consultant team and graduate assistants/interns.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
Master's in Counseling, Education, Human Resources, Student Affairs, or closely related field.
Knowledge of digital career platforms.
Working Conditions At present, the position will be primarily located:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. It is anticipated that this position will return to campus in a full time capacity in the future. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
