Director & Academic Advisor for West Des Moines Campus

The Continuing, Graduate and Online Programs seeks a Director and Academic Advisor for the West Des Moines Campus. Responsibilities will include providing academic advising services for all C&G students on the West Des Moines Campus. Assist the Dean of Continuing, Graduate & Online Programs in the development of student services for C&G prospective and current students, as well as in the development of long-range program plans for academic programs.
Principal duties and responsibilities will include: advising prospective and current C&G students, coordinating campus activities and academic course schedule, and providing instructional support.
Working evening hours, typically 8:00 pm to assist students and instructors.
Maintain student files for all persons receiving advising services, with yearly review to purge files more than five years post-service. Determine student support programs/services. Coordinate and evaluate the delivery of designated support programs/services.
Serve as advisor to the Delta Tau Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda and attend groups’ meetings.
Assist Dean with evaluation & revision of course scheduling structure and all course majors and minors available on both campuses.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
Two to three years experience of advising college adult and continuing education students.
Customer service orientation or training.
Strong interpersonal and communication and time management skills required.
Physical mobility to navigate stairs, walk about on and off campus locations.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to lift objects (textbooks and printed materials) up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge of audio-visual equipment for set-up and use.
Knowledge of word processing, electronic mail, use of Colleague data systems.
