This is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience and complemented by an excellent benefits package.
Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Master’s level candidate for a full-time position as an Assistant Director, Volunteer Engagement. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college, which enrolls approximately 2,600 primarily residential students. The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual who has a strong counseling, administrative, collaborative, and student-focused background to serve in this position. The person in the position will be a member of the Center for Career Engagement within the College Life Division.
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director, Volunteer Engagement, in the Center for Career Engagement is to provide career counseling to current students and alumni. The Assistant Director will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and development of relationships with alumni, parent, and employer volunteers as well as identifying potential new partners to offer experiential opportunities and mentoring to students. A critical piece of this position will be understanding and utilizing the Gettysburg network to expand career opportunities.
The Assistant Director, Volunteer Engagement will:
Provide individual coaching and training through appointments and drop-ins
Manage shadowing, externships, immersion trips, and remote projects including host recruitment, student application, appropriate matching, and any funding assistance needs
Track engagement/interest of students, alumni, and parents for experiential programs
Collaborate on communications to alumni and parents as potential and current hosts and mentors
Serve on planning and implementation working groups for the Community GIGs humble consulting/design thinking program, connecting students and community organizations
Manage International Gettysburgians Network alumni mentoring program for students in partnership with International Student Services
Partner on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging efforts for underrepresented groups and first gen students with College Life and campus colleagues
Collaborate on Athletics outreach programming
Serve as liaison to the career committee of the BOLD Council (young alumni advisory council)
Train and mentor student career ambassadors.
