Housed under the Division of Student Affairs, Georgetown University Campus Recreation plays a crucial role in providing co-curricular opportunities for the Georgetown University campus and community. Dedicated towards the cultivation of the whole' person, Campus Recreation provides a variety of opportunities for all students to enhance their university experience through recreation, fitness, and well-being. Through our various sport and recreation programs, students are given the opportunity to connect with each other and experience personal growth in a fun, comfortable, and challenging yet safe environment. The mission of Georgetown University Campus Recreation is to provide the Georgetown campus and surrounding community with fun, inclusive, engaging, and educational fitness and wellness programming that promotes personal growth and the development of lifelong skill sets.

The Aquatics Coordinator helps bridge students and professional staff through aiding the creation of diverse and inclusive opportunities for maximum participation that raises the profile of health and wellness on Georgetown University's campus, and helps shape the students' college recreation experience!
The Aquatics Coordinator, under general supervision of the Associate Director for Aquatics and Risk Management, coordinates and provides oversight of learn-to-swim and aquatic certification programs. As part of the core values of the University, they demonstrate an appreciation for the critical importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and assist in leading a department that fosters a welcoming environment that promotes and celebrates all dimensions of difference and diversity. To ensure these values are part of a holistic approach to recruiting diverse student employees and highlighting an inclusive atmosphere, they provide innovative programming for students, diverse applicant pools for employment opportunities, and collaboration with campus partners. Duties include but are not limited to:
Execute a comprehensive revenue-generating learn to swim program, including planning, scheduling, programming, registration, implementation, evaluation, and communication with stakeholders
Provide year-round group and private lessons for adults and children
Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and supervising student and non-student staff
Provide a minimum number of swim instructions each month
Provide oversight of Campus Recreation Lifeguard staff - for example, assisting with in-service training for all student staff
Assist with daily maintenance of McCarthy pool, including water chemistry and pool maintenance, and assessing custodial needs
Assist as needed with American Red Cross Health and Safety classes in a program consisting of instructional classes for staff and the university community in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First Aid
The successful Aquatics Coordinator is a self-motivated professional with practical experience in Aquatic program planning, management, and implementation, student leadership development, and scheduling; is familiar with Red Cross programs, and is a team player who supports to the Campus Recreation Professional Staff.
At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in aquatics programming
Certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
Knowledge in planning, organizing, and implementing aquatics programs
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Strong commitment to student development by providing leadership training and professional development and by supporting academic success
Availability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours in addition to regular University hours
