Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, Michigan offers non-credit art and design related courses for youth and adults in the community. Course instructors for these programs have the knowledge and real-world experience that will improve their students’ skills and the way their students think about their own creative potential.
Teaching assignments include subject areas such as: drawing, painting, design thinking, robotics, digital applications, web design and coding, fashion, interiors, branding, photography, sculpture, metals/jewelry, ceramics, mixed media, comic drawing, and much more. The teaching assignments are part-time, temporary, and are taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan or other satellite locations within the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
College course work in, or related to, area of emphasis.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in area of emphasis. K-12 teaching certification or advanced degree in studio art (for youth or adult art programs). Prior experience teaching youth (for youth programs).
Responsible for planning, preparing and delivering high quality, purposeful and productive lessons in the field of design that will develop, maintain and stimulate students’ curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Design. Create opportunities for exploring design and design thinking with the aim of helping students develop a broad base of skills through practical, investigational and theoretical work. Utilize various teaching strategies that allow for the full range of ability and learning styles to inspire the students. Develop students’ familiarity, competence and confidence within a safe workshop environment and ensure that they are familiar with the school’s health and safety guidance. Represent the program and KCAD in a positive manner to students. Maintain effective communication with KCAD, students and/or parents. Follow KCAD’s policies in regards to minors on campus and emergency procedures. Work collaboratively with KCAD faculty and staff as needed.
