The Career Exploration & Development team lives the University Mission and purpose of “transforming lives and fostering transformation” through high-impact engagement initiatives that connect students and employers. The Assistant Director, Student Employment will join a dynamic team seeking to engage and advise students as they explore and discover their passions, purpose, and career opportunities.
The Assistant Director, Student Employment is responsible for creating and implementing a university-wide student employment program, specifically focused on the undergraduate student experience. This position will oversee the daily operations of a meaningful work initiative, supporting the department, division, and university in upholding a student employment experience that is organized around career competency development and attention to university service standards. The Assistant Director is responsible for working with students in supporting their professional growth. Knowledge of career and student development theories and assessment best practices are essential for this role. This professional reports to the Director regarding departmental operations and goals and will work closely with human resources and the financial aid department.
Creation and implementation of a student employment program at Gannon
Management of daily operations associated with the student employment experience
Regular communications and resource generation for student employees
Regular communications and resource generation for student employment supervisors
Creation of assessment metrics and measures for program
Integration of NACE career readiness competencies into program/initiative
Relationship management and ongoing collaboration with key university constituents including personnel in Human Resources, Financial Aid, Budget, and department/program supervisors
Potential future supervision of a dedicated teammate responsible for frequent student advising and workplace trainings

Requirements include: a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree in higher education, college student personnel, human resources or related discipline is preferred; a minimum of three years of relevant experience working directly with college students; proficiency in career services best practices; excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills; proficiency in use of technological solutions and data management; ability to understand and demonstrate a commitment to the University’s Mission and Service Standards.
