Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Five (5) years of full time experience in a job development/corporate recruitment role. Experience developing employer-university partnerships. Current in-depth knowledge of industry and workforce trends that impact delivery of college level career services. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of full time experience coordinating corporate recruiting programs for college students using Handshake or similar recruitment program. Two (2) years of full time experience developing new employer relationships. Experience working in a college career center. Demonstrated success in generating revenue through employer partnerships. Experience implementing data-driven processes to evaluate program and service effectiveness. Experience working in a large, complex, research university with engineering and/or business programs.
Brief Description of Duties: Reporting to the Director of Employer Engagement & Diversity Recruitment, the Assistant Director develops and cultivates deep employer relationships for Stony Brook University, our academic and experiential programs, and diverse student body. You will co-develop our strategy to expand and manage overall employer engagement and manage programming as part of the Career Center's commitment to diversity talent development. Successful candidates will have very high energy, growth mindset, strong work ethic, creativity and resourcefulness, and outstanding communication and relationship development skills. Incumbent must be a solid team member who performs at the MVP level, with the ability to operate with a startup mindset within a large enterprise environment.
Employer Relationship Development
Co-develop a strategy for new employer engagement and lead team to actively prospect employers through online outreach, industry-based activities, networking, and cold calling. Schedule F2F and virtual meetings with employers. Enhance existing recruitment partnerships. Develop and implement guidelines for successful cultivation of an expanding network of employers that includes prospecting and relationship management goals. Monitor and track engagement to meet employer activity/enhancement goals. Build strong collaborative relationships cross-functionally, with Advancement/Alumni Relations and designated departments to design and implement industry-focused engagement. Consult /educate employers on best practices in developing high-impact applied learning experiences which align with our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Facilitate connections between industry partners and pre-professional student groups. Contribute to Career Center Diversity Talent Pipeline Programs.
Administration /Information Management
Ensure that our Handshake system maximizes opportunities for employers and organizations to connect with our students. Create assessments to measure ROI in employer engagement work; collect data, prepare reports using Qualtrics, Excel, PPT, and other tech tools. Co-manage budget allocations that support employer programming, which involve projections, purchasing, and reconciliation.
Student Engagement & Programming
Create scalable opportunities to increase student-employer engagement for the enhancement of student career readiness and employability. Work with select pre-professional student organizations on industry connected recruitment and networking events, which may occur in the evenings and on weekends.
Contribute in purposeful ways to the personal and professional development of our students across the arc of their undergraduate experience, including active career coaching.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
