The SOAR program is a new, grant-funded, high impact cohort-based program that provides students with opportunities for academic success, career development, identity development, and leadership development. The Soar Program is funded through the SUCCESS fund initiative, coordinated and funded through the Mass. Association of Community Colleges and the Mass. Department of Higher Education.
The ï¿½ï¿½ï¿½SOAR Program Case Manager is responsible for holistically assisting program participants with all aspects of college procedures, programs and services pertaining to enrollment, retention and student success. This position assists and connects program participants with essential resources such as academic advising, tutoring, academic coaching, financial literacy tools including financial aid resources, career services, counseling, disability services, faculty advising, student life activities and community resources. The Case Manager will work with program participants to help them acclimate to the college culture and assess and triage student challenges and barriers to success. The Case Manager also develops and implements events and workshops for participants geared toward student success and leadership development. Reporting to the Assistant Director of the SOAR Program, the SOAR Program Case Manager will be responsible for but not limited to:
Provide information, assistance and guidance to current and prospective program participants regarding college programs, financial services, program intake processes, student support services, and advising processes such as course registration and transfer.
Assists in implement a case management model to provide holistic support services to program participants.
Responsible for accurately responding to inquiries about the Success Funding from students, staff and the community in a courteous and professional manner through telephone, email, social media, and/or personal communication and schedule appointments as appropriate.
Offer program participants solutions to overcome barriers to retention and/or registration.
Initiate the process of career and academic planning by collaborating with the program Academic and Transfer Advisor and professional advisors in the Academic Centers and Student Success HUB Advising
Process tasks associated with intake applications, advising process, financial aid applications, verifications, reports, and other forms.
Assist with the development and implementation of a peer mentor program for program participants.
Promote the use of student portal by guiding program participants through its various uses such as registration, payments, financial aid tracking status and student academic statuses;
Work in consultation with the SOAR ambassadors to provide outreach and support services for program participants.
Resolve participant challenges by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions to aid with persistence; escalating unresolved problems.
Serve as a liaison to faculty, staff, and community members in response to program participants.
Develop, assess and facilitate co-curricular programming including leadership, social, and educational programs
Collaborate with all departments to ensure a seamless placement and support process for all program participants.
Assist in implementing retention activities such as emailing or making phone calls to current or prospective students, collecting or reviewing data to inform retention strategies.
Maintain files and records
Actively use student success management systems such as Banner, Navigate, Zogotech, etc.
Anticipate and meet all program participant needs accurately, professionally and with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Responsible for working cross-functionally with other teams, building customer relationships, and other special projects, as necessary.
Bachelor's degree in a related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, program/project management or administrative work in academic environment/ or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations
Experience successfully planning, executing and evaluating programs and initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Creative problem-solving abilities.
Master's Degree in Student Affairs or related field
Banner Student Information Systems experience preferred.
Experience working in community college.
Bilingual or Bicultural (Spanish and English).
Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.
SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $52,754.00.00 to $60,478.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
