The Associate Director of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) Administers and supervises the daily activities of CSI; oversees the development of collaborative, campus-wide student engagement activities and programs; and sits on the U-SU leadership team.
Participates in the University-Student Union (U-SU) leadership team, department leadership team, and on U-SU and Student Life projects and committees as assigned.
Monitors policy and procedures for student organizations, leadership programs, and programming units to meet U-SU and University standards.
Co-supervises, recruits, trains, and evaluates three professional program coordinators, and administrative assistant, and student assistants.
Creates budgets and monitors expenditures for CSI units with the supervisor and the Executive Director of the U-SU.
Manages CSI front desk operations.
Develops and implements major initiatives including Golden Eagle Fest, Golden Eagle Awards, Golden Eagle Pride, Union Student Employee Training (U-SET), U-SU periodic celebrations.
Oversees the collaborative and campus-wide planning and implementation of educational, social, wellness, recreational and cultural programs, including but not limited to special events, concerts, bands, films, and lectures.
Initiates and coordinates CSI collaborations with academic and student life departments on campus.
Assists with the evaluation and assessment of leadership, involvement, and programming efforts.
Attends events during daytime, evening, and weekend hours, as needed, to ensure appropriate coordination and implementation of planning efforts.
Develops and maintains contacts and resources; serves as a liaison with other campus programmers and involvement areas (e.g. Associated Students, Inc., Cross-Cultural Centers, Student Health Center, and Housing and Residential Life).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff.
Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs preferred Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, communications, public administration, or closely related field required,
Four years of experience in a student union/activities-related position or grad assistantship required.
Creativity, high motivation, organization, and coordination abilities are required.
Experience with budgeting, fiscal management, and reporting required.
Contract negotiation and execution experience are required.
Two years of professional staff supervision or four years of student staff supervision is required.
Experience in small and large group programming required.
Oral and written communication skills are required.
Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of student development are required.
Ability to motivate and work closely with students required.
Ability to utilize current technology related to programmatic and business functions required.
Experience in training and development is preferred.

The University-Student Union (U-SU) first opened its doors in 1976 and celebrated the grand opening of the current 91,000 square foot facility in 2009. Today’s Cal State Los Angeles University-Student Union serves over 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
