The Assistant Director for the College of Engineering and Technology will report to the Associate Director for Career Development of Career Services or a designee of the Director.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for various aspects of the career development process and programming for students in majors within the College of Engineering and Technology. The undergraduate enrollment for the College is approximately 2200 students.
Advise students on internship, co-op and post-graduation employment opportunities and strategies for career success.
The Assistant Director will create, schedule, conduct and evaluate career programming on a variety of topics to include but not limited to resume writing, interview techniques, social media and the job search process.
The Assistant Director will create, maintain, and enhance relationships with employers by increasing their visibility on campus through employer presentations and coordinate such relationships with the Career Center Employer Relations team.
The Assistant Director will work directly with faculty, administration, and student professional organizations to coordinate career-related activities and produce recruitment events.
The Assistant Director will pursue faculty partners within the college to intentionally integrate career development activities within the classroom.
The Assistant Director will complete reports on activities and student employment information to contribute to the departmental assessment plan.
The Assistant Director will also support and promote career programs and events offered by the Career Center, including career fairs, on-campus interviewing, employer information programs, and department supported activities.
This position will develop and present job database training for students, faculty, and staff and is responsible for increasing student participation in the job database for employment and career development opportunities.
Will lead Career Services career assessment initiatives, including management of the FOCUS2 career exploration tool.
The Assistant Director will represent the office on campus committees and working groups.
Will oversee co-op promotion efforts for Career Services.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
Core Competencies of the position include: provides needs assessments and develops action plans to address effectiveness of activities of the Department of Career Services and specifically the College of Engineering and Technology. Designs and implements effective strategies to support student career development and employment success.

A master's degree and two years of career services or career advising experience in a higher education setting
Strong knowledge of employer recruitment strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources.
Knowledge of career assessments and development of career assessment initiatives.
Ability to interact with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population.
Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, academic personnel, employers, and alumni.
Excellent writing, presentation and organizational skills required.
