The Division of Student Affairs assists students with social, personal, and emotional development with the goal of encouraging intellectual and ethical growth through programs, initiatives, clubs, leadership activities, and various community events. The Division is comprised of five subgroups: 1) Student Transitions and Retention 2) Student Health, Wellness, and Inclusion 3) Leadership and Engagement 4) Career Exploration and Professional Development 5) Varsity Athletics, Intramurals, and the APEX. The division reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Student Success.
The Director of Athletics and APEX Facilities will report to the Vice President for Student Affairs and oversee all indoor and outdoor APEX facilities and provide innovative and strategic leadership, program development, and administration of a comprehensive athletics and recreational program serving all students.
The Director of Athletics and APEX Facilities is a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT) and participates in campus-wide student outreach and support activities such as orientation, registration, commencement, and other college-wide events. The Director of Athletics and APEX Facilities will:
??? Provide administrative direction and oversight for intercollegiate, intramural, and recreational athletics staff, APEX facilities and staff, activities, programs, and equipment.
???Plan, implement, and promote intercollegiate, intramural, and recreational athletic programs including varsity sports, intramural program, a range of credit and non-credit recreational programs.
???Oversee the intercollegiate varsity sports teams, including recruiting, hiring, and supervising coaches and serving as head of compliance and eligibility.
???Ensure Title IX, sexual harassment, anti-hazing programs, and other training programs as required for all coaches, athletics staff, and student-athletes.
???Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
???Enhance the APEX facilities??? brand, visibility, and value to internal and external constituents.
???Generating revenue by maximizing the utilization of the APEX facilities.
???Develop and monitor the department???s long-range strategic plan, using best practices and a strong commitment to internal and external data collection, analysis, and ongoing evaluation.
???Build rapport and collaborations with multiple constituencies, including academic and service departments, students, and alumni.
???Prepare contracts/agreements for scheduled events and rentals of the APEX facilities and have them properly vetted prior to execution.
???Establish and maintain appropriate policies and standards for teams and recreational groups.
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required; a Master???s degree in related field (Athletic Administration, Sports Management, Higher Education Administration, or related program) preferred.
???Progressive experience in athletic administration, staff supervision and facility management required (preferably in a college or university setting). Experience with aquatic operations desired.
???Have a proven ability to lead, motivate, and provide supervision, strong administrative leadership, and serve as an advocate for student-athletes.
???Knowledge of best practices in athletics, recreational programs, and facilities management with an emphasis on research, assessment, and data-informed decision making.
???Evidence of successfully managing facilities and implementing intercollegiate and student recreational programs for a diverse student population required.
???Knowledge of NCAA Division III eligibility rules and compliance strongly preferred.
???Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with attention to detail and proven leadership experience.
??? Be committed to supporting student success while actively using best practices with regard to the operation of comprehensive athletics and the APEX facilities.
???Ability to work evening hours and weekends and travel to games as needed.
???Be a dynamic individual who can work independently and under general supervision to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors, and campus community.
??? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, managing social media, and designing promotional and informational materials.

Establish and maintain appropriate policies and standards for teams and recreational groups
Collect and analyze departmental statistics and data and prepare and distribute reports as appropriate
