The Division of Student Affairs is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's IU experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Division of Student Affairs staff and 19 departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. The Student Advocates Office is a first point of contact to provide direct assistance, advocacy and accurate information to students, parents, faculty and university departments regarding student's experiencing academic, conduct and financial barriers.
Assists with administrative needs related to the daily operations, planning, and implementation of student support initiatives. Performs duties such as attending a front desk, answering phones and email, and delivering messages and mail.
Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmental student services initiatives, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders, faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and preparing reports. Accurately maintains student records and databases.
Schedules student appointments and provides directions, support, and information to students and other visitors to the department.
Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering of student feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other materials.
May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materials for student groups or departmental needs.
May provide guidance to other Student Support Coordinators.
Department specific responsibilities:
Coordinates all financial requirements and processing for the Student Advocate's Office including but not limited to reconciling purchases, lifting holds on student accounts, on-boarding new advocates, etc.; Manage financial processing on payments received on outstanding loans.
Schedules, supports and interacts daily with advocate teams of retired IU faculty and staff.
High school diploma or GED.
2 years of experience in an office environment, higher education, or a related field.
Experience at Indiana University.
2 years of experience in an office environment preferably with a client or human services focus in higher education, social work or a related field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
