Hudson & Holland Scholars Program (HHSP) within the Office of the Vice-President of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs.
The Hudson & Holland Scholars Program (HHSP) is a scholarship and support program for high achieving underrepresented minorities. The program provides scholarship funding as well as a variety of opportunities to enrich and support the holistic needs of students. This community of 2,000 talented scholars are among the best and brightest students at Indiana University, whose presence and contributions embody the program's core values of leadership, engagement, academics, and diversity.
Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
Interfaces directly with students, attending student life events and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student life initiatives and objectives.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
Provides guidance to student organizations regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment, registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership and student development through advising of individual student leaders and volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of student organization policies.
Plans and coordinates communications for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
Specific department responsibilities:
Provides data support and research on program scholarship initiatives and outcomes, produces reports on student engagement, retention, academic progress, or other program data from AdRx, IUIE, Tableau or other data sources.
Works with College of Arts and Sciences and other IU schools - particularly in coordination with school or departmental Admissions, Scholarship and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offices - to identify prospective and returning Hudson and Holland Scholars and their eligibility for School/College partnership awards and direct admission.
Works to monitor student academic progress and when necessary, create academic improvement plans to help increase Hudson and Holland scholar retention. Helps increase the number of students maintaining the HHSP scholarship and to increase timely graduation rates.
Works to create or co-sponsor student engagement opportunities that promote scholar personal, professional and leadership development and promote academic advancement for Hudson and Holland scholars. Works to promote student consideration of graduate and professional school opportunities. Provides workshops, advising and programming in order to expose students to graduate program information and opportunities and to help them prepare and apply for specific graduate or professional schools. Works to help students plan and prepare for graduate school tests such as LSAT or GRE. Works with IU graduate school programs to provide workshops and admission advising sessions for specific graduate programs.
Promotes HHSP scholar engagement and advancement within their major fields and identify ways to promote and increase academic satisfaction and academic outcomes for HHSP scholars.
Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or a related field.
Master's degree in higher education student affairs or a related field.
2 years of experience in student services, higher education, or a related field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
