Under the administrative supervision of the College of Health and Human Services Career Director, this position is central to the college Career and Professional Success operations. In the context of the UNH Wildcat Way to Professional Success Model, counsel students and alumni in exploring educational, personal or career goals; identifying interests, skills, and possible majors; exploring internship/experiential learning opportunities; relating majors and competencies to career options; developing concrete action steps to advance career options and the job search process; and researching graduate and post-graduate professional programs.
â¢ Work with students in one-on-one appointments and group settings on career-related issues:
o Identify experience, interests, and skills as they related to majors and careers and assist students to effectively articulate their unique career story in writing and verbally
o Research internships and careers
o Prepare resumes and cover letters
o Practice Interviewing and networking
o Use social media - internships and jobs
o Conduct a job search - develop an action plan and identify experiences that reflect competencies required of position
o Research graduate and professional school opportunities and the application process
o Negotiate salary and navigate on-boarding
â¢ Partner/liaise with CHHS student organizations to provide supportive programming and experiences.
Â· Develop and deliver workshops and other career related events.
Â· Represent office at university recruitment events such as admitted student days.
Â· Develop an awareness and understanding of employers in order to deliver support for students as they conduct their job search.
Â· Work with alumni, faculty, and employers as relevant to the support and delivery of CaPS services.
Â· Bachelorâs degree in a health or human services, education, counseling, or related student service area required.
Â· Strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques.
Â· Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies/tools.
Â· Ability to work collaboratively.
Â· Ability to work efficiently and with careful attention to detail.
Â· Experience working with adolescents, emerging adults, and diverse student populations.
