Work Conditions:Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature. The position requires visual acuity, manual dexterity, and auditory acuity to work with a wide range of students. On occasion, the position will require moving between offices and buildings to provide services. The position also requires some schedule flexibility in order to accommodate students.
Duties of Position: Works to coordinate exam accommodations and note taking services for students with disabilities. Accommodations Assistant will serve to implement frontline accommodations, and will communicate with Faculty, ADS staff, and Testing Center staff to ensure high-quality services to students. The position requires some evening work and schedule flexibility in order to accommodate students.
Manages accommodations and materials for exam administration, proctors exams and returns exams to Instructors. Works with Front Office staff and student aides to facilitate these processes.
Provides approved testing accommodations to students.
Assists students and Instructors to coordinate testing times for students needing testing accommodations in ADS.
Assists students with submitting third-party exam accommodation documents, and provides appropriate releases and ADS documents as supporting evidence.
Maintains regular contact with the Testing Center regarding upcoming certification, licensing, or specialty exams that require testing accommodations or proctoring in ADS.
Communicates with Instructors, students, third-party testing organizations, the Testing Center, and ADS staff as needed.
Meets with students interested in utilizing note taking services, and provides appropriate paperwork to students.
Coordinates note taker recruitment and serve as a temporary note taker when needed. an
Assists ADS in organizing note taker paperwork, data tracking, and preparation of note taker stipends.
Recruits lab assistants for students with physical disabilities.
Assists with front office phone calls and other direct student accommodations per the direction of the Manager, Accommodation Services.
Participates in ADS and Student Development meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager, Accommodation Services or Director.
Educational Requirements:High School Graduate required, with a preference for college coursework in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Experience Requirements: Direct experience working with college students and/or students with disabilities desired. Additional experience with test proctoring, academic support, or tutoring highly valued.
