This is a 9-month position primarily responsible providing individual counseling, group counseling, conducting and facilitating outreach for the University community, and assisting with walk-ins when necessary. The Staff Counseling/Psychotherapist will report to the Assistant Vice President/Director of the Center for Student Wellbeing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides individual and group counseling for University students.
Assists in the administration and implementation of counseling, training, and wellbeing programs, including outreach to the University community. Design and facilitate psychoeducational workshops.
Provides crisis intervention, intake interviews, assessment, and treatment planning for students in need of emergency/urgency appointments.
Continues professional development to keep abreast of pertinent developments in the field.
Performs other related job duties as assigned by the AVP/Director.
Requires a minimum of a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
A PA license to practice or license eligible must be obtained within one year of hire date.
Experience conducting crisis-management intake interviews, case conceptualizations and treatment plan formulation is required or any combination of experience or training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to:
Knowledge of the general principles and practices of higher education, research design, psycho-diagnostic assessment, psychological measurement, counseling and psychotherapy.
Experience with individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management of college students.
Experience in counseling multi-cultural and minority populations.
Experience in working with the diverse issues affecting a college student population.
Computer skills for electronic record documentation.
Knowledge of PA state law, HIPPA and APA Code of Ethics.
Sensitivity to the needs of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity, inclusion, and equity in general and the Mission of the University specifically.
