Summary of Duties:
The position will have the responsibility of providing coaching and advising support to TRIO students, including reviewing and assessing TRIO program students' academic skills to determine best approach for academic improvement and to develop student success plans; maintain case notes and records of meetings with students. Plan and attend day or overnight trips related to graduate school, leadership conferences, leadership programs and cultural enrichment. This includes outreach and retention efforts, development of TRIO Student Success programming that supports underrepresented populations, serve on committees, and participate in ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: analyzing student academic plans and transcripts, using data to inform advising and coaching practices of TRIO students, developing Student Success Plans; Advising and coaching of first-generation, limited-income students and individuals with disabilities; developing and participating in student success based seminars; functioning as a liaison with university faculty, supervisors, and internal and external constituents; monitoring and evaluating student services and student programming effectiveness, and suggesting changes required for improvement. This position will provide proactive outreach and services to currently enrolled TRIO students to ensure persistence goals are met and exceeded. This position will assist with the oversight of the professional mentor and THRIVE ambassador program and other student success programming to increase retention and persistence of underrepresented students in various majors. Plan and attend weekday, weekend day, or overnight trips related to graduate school, conferences and leadership programs.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience, including advising or coaching limited-income and diverse populations. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of the TRIO student.
A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis.

Experience working with a diverse group of students and their families such as first-generation students, low-income students, disabled students, and/or ethnically diverse student populations.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Zoom.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.
Student services experience in admissions, advising, and/or recruitment.
Valid driver's license
Advanced college degree in a relevant field.
Bilingual: fluent oral and written communication skills in a language other than English.
Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
Experience working with diverse faculty, students and staff.
Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Experience with Washington State University business policies and procedures and/or federal grant regulations, such as the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), High School Equivalency Program, a TRIO program, GEAR UP or similar grant programs.
