Upward Bound - College Advisor ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: At least three years of student services professional work with low-income, prospective first generation college students; experience with state and federal programs; prefer person from similar background as target population. At least one year of working with a college-access program or college/career exploration. Knowledge of issues affecting the academic potential of low income, first-generation college-bound youth (written and oral proficiency in Spanish a plus). Ability to effectively present information on one-on-one and small group situation. Working knowledge of personnel and instructional computing applications required. Extensive experience working with teenagers in multi-racial environment, in guidance counseling, community work or social agency. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours. Valid CA Driver's License.
