St. John’s College High School seeks an Academic Support Specialist beginning in the 2021-22 school year.
Provide instructional and executive function support outside the classroom for students
Help students develop positive daily routines and good habits; assist students in overcoming social/emotional challenges
Monitor students’ progress
Structure strategies through frequent dialogue with teachers and parents
Communicate and collaborate regularly with teachers, administrators, and ?department chairs ?
Work as part of the Student Support Committee with grade level counselors and student life administrators
Collaborate on professional development for content and grade-level teams for study skills and instructional techniques?
Assist in the Coordination of tutoring for individual students ?
A bachelor’s degree
Experience as a learning specialist and/or work with students with learning differences
Ability to interpret psychoeducational testing and implement recommendations for students
Sophisticated organizational skills ?
Comfort with technology as a conduit for study skills, organization, and instructional support ?
Ability to share effective learning strategies with students and teachers ?
Able to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues ?
