Senior Assistant Director/Associate Director for Access and Diversity - School of Arts and Sciences - (21001564)
This position will be a Senior Assistant Director or Associate Director for Access and Diversity depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruits potential applicants and selects students for the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Engineering, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. The Admissions team embraces the mission of the university and the goals of the undergraduate admissions office which include attracting and enrolling a diverse cohort of first year and transfer students via a robust recruitment and enrollment initiatives plan that has equity and inclusion as its guiding principle.
The Senior Assistant Director/Associate Director of Admissions collaborates to design, implement and direct effective recruitment objectives set by the Dean for the school. A Senior Assistant Director will support the activities of the diversity and access recruitment portfolio and oversee the planning and execution of the diversity fly-in programs. An Associate Director, in addition to directing the Senior Assistant Director responsibilities, would monitor budgets and be responsible for the performance of 2-3 Admissions Counselors and/or Assistant Directors as well as a Program Assistant. The candidate will work with their undergraduate admissions colleagues to ensure a diverse and academically talented pool who want to engage with a community of learners like the one found at Tufts. Participating in Committee Based Evaluation, the Senior Assistant Director/ Associate Director reads and evaluates applications as part of a team, participates in the selection process and may serve as Chair of a selection committee. Additionally, they will participate in recruitment events both on and off campus as well as virtually and manage an assigned geographic territory. An Associate Director would be a member of the management team and contribute to discussions.
Basic Requirements: Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
Bachelor's degree with 4 (Senior Assistant Director) to 6 (Associate Director) years of experience in admissions, college counseling or related field with demonstrated increasing responsibility.
Proficiency with CRM management software and Microsoft office suite.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Valid US Driver's license.
Experience with Slate.
Experience with committee-based evaluation or team-based reading.
