Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. The Career Coach will be based in Rockbridge County High School and is responsible for helping high school students define their career aspirations and identifying community college programs and/or training to meet those aspirations and achieve their educational goals. Responsibilities Include:
Career/Academic counseling to high school students
Counsel high school students enrolled in secondary programs and other transitional programs about DSLCC Career Pathways, especially in O/T areas.
Assist high school students and their parents in filing the FAFSA, DSLCC applications, as well as other items related to the college orientation/onboarding process.
Assist in the coordination and participate in Dabney Day, which is held on the DSLCC Main Campus each fall.
Assist high school students with taking the VPT, interpretation of Multiple Measures placement, and onboarding through EAB Navigate.
Attend applicable state-wide meetings and professional development opportunities related to career and transition services.
Assist students with exploring career options and interests using tools such as the Virginia Wizard, EAB Navigate, Career Coach, etc.
Conduct resume workshops and schedule mock interviews for students.
Will assist with college events such as New Student Orientation, Graduation, recruitment, outreach activities, and other college-wide events as needed.
Will assist with other duties as assigned.

Experience administering and interpreting assessments
Ability to gather and analyze data
Command of the English language both oral and written
Excellent computer skills
Ability to be a team player including maintaining confidentiality
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and team building skills
Bachelorâ™s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
