The Director provides leadership for Human Resources for the Division of Campus Life, a large division of 18 offices, departments and centers, more than 225 staff and @ 700 student worker positions. Â The Director works collaboratively across the division and is responsible for all HR operations, including consistent, compliant, and responsive recruitment, selection, onboarding, training and development, support, performance management, compensation and talent development of staff members. Â
The Director of Human Resources serves as a central point of contact for operational and business processes related to human resources and as a resource to problem solve and offer guidance to managers in the division. The Director will collaborate with staff to implement human resource policies and procedures efficiently and to educate managers about their human resource management obligations and provide policy interpretation and implementation guidance.
The Director works with hiring managers to cultivate the divisionâ™s ability to recruit and retain employees through best practices, competitive compensation, talent development, and a deeply shared commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Â
The Director manages employee relation issues collaboratively with the Senior Director of Employee and Labor Relations. Â In addition, the director supports supervisors in managing employee performance issues and interfaces with departments to ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations and university policies. Â Works closely with central University Human Resources
The Director will work collaboratively with the Chief of Staff, Director for Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives and the Director of Talent Development to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to perform effectively in their current positions, prepare themselves to assume new or different responsibilities and to forge internal and external partnerships to improve organizational effectiveness. Â
The Director manages student employment hiring for the division and partners with University Human Resources Student Employment Office Â to ensure proper procedures are followed and the division is compliant with policies and employment law. Â This including meeting with supervisors to review student worker needs and proactively develop student worker staffing plans for the full academic year and developing division wide student recruiting and hiring processes.Â

Required: Masters degree in related field orÂ Bachelorâ™s degree plus equivalent combination of education and related experience
Experience and Job Competencies
7 to 10 years of progressive human resources management and leadership experience required
Prior experience in the higher education setting or similarly complex organization is required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; tactful, direct, and demonstrated ability to present data and communicate effectively with diverse campus groups.
Leadership skills with the ability to effectively influence policies and programs
Prior experience in consulting with internal clients on some combination of recruitment, compensation, organizational, talent developmentÂ
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining a diverse workforce and an equitable and inclusive workplace
Strong commitment to supporting the Universityâ™s goals of cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; flexible in dealing with changes in approach and deliverables.
Strong systems skills, including Microsoft Office suite, database, and resource planning systems.
Demonstrated an aptitude for team building, change management, and process development skills.
Membership in the Society of Human Resources Management or College & University Professional Association for Human Resources preferred but is not required.Â Â
