The College is seeking applicants for a full-time Residence Hall Coordinator located in Milwaukee, WI. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Direct supervision of Community Advisor (CA) staff
Direct supervision of the Rec Room Manager
Indirect supervision of the Front Desk staff
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with College policies and applicable laws
Residence Hall Administration:
Manage communication around community and facility needs, repairs, maintenance and supplies
Participate in the Professional Staff on-call rotation with other Residence Life Staff
Coordinate updates of all Residence Life publications including Residence Life Handbook
Maintain and organize student files for Residence Life and transmit files to archives annually
Oversee development of programming for the hall, including Super Six Series and all hall programs, including the student activity fee budget.
Assist with CA, Desk Worker, Senior Lead Desk Worker(SLDW) and Summer Assistant (SA) recruitment, selection, and training throughout the academic year
Engage in the campus and residential communities to build relationships with students outside of traditional office hours.
Respond to emergency situations, behavior concerns, and security issues
Review all incident reports, maintain appropriate conduct records, and meet with students as necessary
Actively participate in department wide events such as opening, closing and room selection
Community Relations and Leadership:
Assist, as appropriate, with Residence Life and campus wide programs, such as Community Day, Homecoming, Super Six Series and Love your Body Week
Participate in other committees not listed or areas outside of Student Affairs as assigned
Participate in department meetings, committees, and official College functions when appropriate
Work closely and cooperatively with Student Affairs, Admissions, Business Office, Advising, Student Activities and other campus departments in support of a vibrant campus community and in the retention and engagement of students
Student & Professional Development:
Connect with all residents on a personal level early in the semester and maintain those connections through continuous interactions.
Facilitate mediation sessions with residents unable to resolve their conflicts.
Coordinate on-going student development with Residence Life student leaders
Maintain communication with other colleges, professional peers and professional organizations to remain current in areas of responsibility including issues and trends related to residence life and campus life. Memberships may include: ACUHO-I, WCPA, UMR-ACUHO, WURHA and the WAICU Residence Life meetings
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Comply with safety procedures and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Demonstrate ability to balance student needs in relation to department and college goals
Create a living environment where residents become active, take ownership for their environment, are held accountable for their behavior, respect the rights of others and learn to balance personal needs with the needs of the community by incorporating Alverno’s Eight Abilities into the co-curriculum.
Serve as a member of the Student Affairs division team and collaborate with co-workers and other departments to accomplish timely completion of projects and maintain smooth operations
Perform other tasks as necessary to support the College mission.
Other Responsibilities: This position may include any or all of the following areas:
Supervise Summer Assistant Staff
Collaborate with the Admissions Office to set up small group and individual overnight recruitment events in the residence halls
Regularly update media related to Residence Life, including but not limited to the Residence Life webpage and Facebook pages.
Lead Dish on Dining Monthly meeting for Residents and Dining Services.

Have excellent written and oral communication skills. Requires the ability to communicate and respond to both internal and external customers professionally and in a timely manner. Must have the ability to read, interpret, write, and complete documents.
Show working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Publisher) including database management
Qualifications and Education
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience living on campus or in a community living environment
Master’s degree is preferred.
Previous Professional Residence Hall experience
Demonstrated strengths in supervision and program development
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development theory and topic regarding retention
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
General campus environment
This is a live-in position. Individual must live on campus and be available for on-call responsibilities which will include some evenings and weekends.
Requires the ability to freely move throughout the facility and grounds and regularly talk and hear. Must have the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the qualifications of an Alverno driver is required
