Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks an Assistant Director for the Workforce Education Center who will provide support for the programs in the Workforce Education Center at CBC. These programs include Basic Food Education & Training (BFE&T), Worker Retraining (WRT), and the WorkFirst Program. The Assistant Director will work with the Director to improve the customer experience for all programs in the Workforce Education Center. Additionally, the Assistant Director has specific programmatic responsibility for implementation, administrative oversight, development of budgets, and meeting the goals and objectives for the Basic Food Education & Training (BFET) Grant.
The Assistant Director works closely with the financial aid office, outside agencies, Opportunity Grant and the Worker Retraining program to maximize currently available services and support for BFE&T eligible students. Decisions or actions brought forward that relate to observing policy, concern for setting college precedent, and issues that go beyond general program management are dealt with by the Vice President of Instruction. The Assistant Director for the Workforce Education Center reports to the Director for the Workforce Education Center.

Support the Director for the Workforce Education Center in managing the daily activities of the Workforce Education Center programs and with the integration and co-enrollment efforts between all programs;
Support the Director for the Workforce Education Center in providing a quality customer experience;
Provide leadership in the implementation, administration, and direction of BFE&T Grant program at the College;
Responsible for quarterly, annual and/or special reports and documentation of grant activities and for program evaluation and assistance with future grant requests;
Attend campus, community and state meetings as appropriate;
Serve as liaison within the campus community and with external entities as appropriate;
Inform, recruit and select students that meet BFE&T guidelines; monitor and provide guidance to BFE&T students to assist them in overcoming barriers to their success, including student advising, program entry and orientation;
Develop “individual employment plans” for each BFE&T student and provide appropriate case management and retention strategies and maintain confidential documentation for each BFE&T student;
Oversee student BFE&T recipient financial assistance and compliance to grant requirements;
Serve as a point of contact for WorkFirst and low-income students;
Provide assistance to economically disadvantaged parents to access career and educational planning;
Support the Director of the Workforce Education Center in preparing quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees; and
Other duties as assigned by the Director for the Workforce Education Center.
Bachelor's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university;
Three (3) years of experience coordinating community workforce and economic development programs and activities; and
Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
Knowledge of BFET program implementation and compliance;
Experience in data mining, evaluation and reporting.
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma.
