Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school for 875 students in grades 5-12 located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid starting in August 2021. This is a full time (1.0 FTE) exempt, 12-month (full year) position.
The Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will join an eight-person team that holds itself to the highest standards in its assessment practices, outreach initiatives, financial aid stewardship, and customer service. The Assistant Director, who reports to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, has responsibilities relative to domestic and international admissions and financial aid.
The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is warm, and is a creative problem-solver. They have a strong ability to successfully manage complex projects and processes, know how to prioritize multiple deadlines, are steady during the rise and fall of the office’s workload during the year, and are oriented toward collaboration. They provide outstanding customer service to families navigating the admission process, enjoy working closely with colleagues, and will be involved in the life of the school beyond admissions and financial aid.

Responsibilities Domestic Admissions
Cultivating an academically talented applicant pool comprised of students from diverse backgrounds and varied experiences
Incorporating the use of data and developing creative outreach practices that support an inclusive admissions process
Building and co-leading the Middle School tour guide program that communicates the value of Lakeside and enables prospective students and families from different backgrounds to see themselves as part of the Lakeside community
Interviewing Middle School and Upper School applicants
Chairing the 5th grade admissions committee, co-chairing the 7th/8th grade admissions committee, participating as a voting member of the 6th grade admissions committee
Participating in all admissions and financial aid events
Using intercultural communication skills to serve as an effective point of contact for students and families applying to the Middle School
Managing the international admissions process
Serving as Lakeside’s Designated School Official, maintaining Lakeside’s data within the Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) database, registering students and updating statuses in SEVIS, renewing Lakeside’s SEVIS certification, and responding to all required action steps as instructed by SEVIS
Serving as primary-reader and interviewer of international applications
Responding promptly to inquiries about the international admissions process
Staying informed of policies that impact international admissions
Managing the Middle School financial aid process for new and returning students
Serving on the financial aid committee
Reviewing financial aid applications and determining financial aid decisions for new and returning Middle School students
Partnering with the Associate Director of Admissions/Financial Aid Programs Director to approve non-tuition aid credit and expenses
Managing the named scholar process for new and returning students
Managing the fee waiver process for SSAT, ISEE, and SSS
Partnering with families seeking financial aid that demonstrates respect, confidentiality, and sensitivity
Requirements and Qualifications
Four-year college degree
Two to five years experience in admissions and financial aid
Ability to develop creative solutions ability to problem solve and think creatively
Experience with Ravenna, School and Student Services (SSS) preferred
Impeccable written, verbal, phone, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrates cultural awareness, such as awareness of themselves and their biases, and is able to communicate and build relationships with a diverse and multicultural community
Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal history background checks.
