Piedmont Virginia Community College seeks an experienced and committed student success advisor to work with at-risk students on a case management basis to help them achieve their academic and career goals. The student success advisor will provide comprehensive support and intervention services for students each semester and connect them to tutoring, coaching, and counseling services to promote success. The advisor will specifically work with students in two or more developmental courses and students on academic probation. The student success advisor will also monitor students referred by the Early Alert system, provide support to the Director of Student Success and Retention in implementing the new mentoring program at the college, and work with the staff in the academic support services. The student success advisor will provide support to the proactive advising process and will serve as a general academic advisor during peak registration periods. The position will report to the Director of Student Success and Retention in the Student Services Division. *Responsibilities will include:* * Provide case management services for students entering PVCC who need extra services and support. * Monitor students that have been referred to the early alert program and follow up with students as needed on enrollment, attendance, and other student success issues. * Assist and support the Director of Student Success and Retention in implementing and monitoring the collegeâ™s mentoring program. * Serve as liaison with teaching faculty for at-risk students identified through the early alert system. * Connect students with college resources such as tutoring, academic coaching, disabilities services, veteransâ™ services and * * Develop and explore academic and career goals with each student and create an individual advising and student success * Serve as a general advisor during peak advising periods, which include assisting with the proactive advising model for first year students. * Serve on the crisis management team.
*Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of experience and education. *Experience working in a higher education environment. *Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/ experience using a student information system.
