Great Expectations and Student Activities Coach: Position #R0079. State role title is Education Support Specialist III, pay band four. Full-time, grant-funded, restricted position with fringe benefits. The compensation for the position is based on qualifications; however, the starting annual minimum salary for this position is $37,042. Responsibilities: *Coordinating the Great Expectations Program at VHCC, including management of budget and program goals *Identifying and recruiting students who are now or have been recently affiliated with the foster care system by networking with community "feeder" programs and promoting services on and off-campus *Providing academic advising to students to include assistance with the application and assessment process, scheduling, registration and financial aid qualification *Creating opportunities for students to obtain assistance through external support organizations *Recruitment activities *Other duties as assigned *Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college
*A baccalaureate degree (grant requirement) in Psychology, Education, Social Work or related field *Strong oral and written communication skills for college and community networking and marketing *Ability to maintain a high level of ethics, professionalism and confidentiality in performance of all duties *Good analytical and organizational skills, ability to work independently and/or with a team, and excellent organizational and time-management skills *Comprehensive collegiate advising skills to support students through the application and enrollment process, and ability to identify appropriate internal and external support resources *Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college
