Job Summary: Owensboro Community and Technical College is seeking applicants for a full-time, twelve-month College Counselor within our Student Affairs Department. This position provides counseling, career guidance, advisement, and registration services to a diverse community and technical college student population, including students on academic probation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide students with counseling, career guidance, advisement, registration services, and assistance with college resources and services.
Assist the Disabilities Service Coordinator in identifying accommodations as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Provide crisis intervention and support, including assessing any potential threats a student may present to him/herself or others.
Facilitate programming to promote the development and success of all students.
Participate in student recruiting activities and retention efforts.
Participate in college activities and committees as assigned.
Master's degree in Counseling or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience, five (5) years preferred.
Strong commitment to student success and team building.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
