The South Carolina Honors College (SCHC) is seeking applications from positive and energetic people who have a strong desire to work in student services and academic advising, and who have a passion for supporting students towards a successful collegiate experience.
Honors College staff members should possess a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity and a commitment to working with high-achieving students. The Academic Advisor and First-Generation Coordinator works with students in two primary ways. The incumbent will be responsible for academic advising of approximately 220 students each semester, which involves assessing students' curricular needs and opportunities and placing them in appropriate honors classes. As the First-Generation Program Coordinator, the incumbent will advise, support and provide programming for first generation students in the Honors College. This role builds community among these students by hosting events and programs and by regularly communicating with them, serves as a resource for SCHC staff on best practices in supporting first generation students, and serves as a liaison to the Gamecock Guarantee program and other campus stakeholders.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Masters degree and 1 year related experience, or bachelor's degree and 3 years related experience.
