Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, this individual will lead key areas within the office including, but not limited to:
Student leadership development
Fraternity and sorority life
Within community engagement, the Coordinator will lead vibrant Alternative Break programs and connect students with service opportunities in the local Middletown and Harrisburg communities. The Coordinator will ensure that these programs and activities support a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. The Coordinator will provide supervision to student staff, outreach to campus and community partners, and budget management for the areas under their purview.
Additional duties include positive support for activity programming, student government, orientation, student clubs and organizations, and parent communication. The role of this position and office is to provide quality cocurricular programming and student support to create and enhance a vibrant, diverse, equitable, and inclusive student community. This role may require frequent evening or weekend hours and is expected to engage with campus, University, and professional networks and committees.
This position typically requires a master's degree or higher preferably in counseling, higher education administration, college student personnel or a related degree plus two years of related experience working in student activities delivering high-quality student events and co-curricular learning, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. A demonstrated history of leadership and knowledge of student development is preferred. Applicants should have experience working with a diverse student body and show evidence of creating practices that improve equity and inclusion. The successful candidate should communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Applicants should have basic technological skills and the willingness to learn new technology. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively within a team environment.
