College Recruitment Specialist - John Chambers Business and Economics 16941
Undergraduate Programs in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a College Recruitment Specialist. This position is responsible for leading the strategic undergraduate student recruitment initiatives for the Chambers College. The incumbent will be responsible for the formation, implementation and assessment of recruitment strategies to attract undergraduate students for the BS in Business Administration and BS in Economics programs; conduct institutional research, analyze data and identify best practices utilized by peer and aspirant peer AACSB business schools; and, attract students with competitive academic profiles and increase the conversion of freshmen and first time transfers in the admit pool.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Identify, plan and implement strategic recruiting initiatives for the College's undergraduate programs.
Plan, organize, and direct on campus student information fairs in coordination with University sponsored events. Identify and recruit key faculty, staff, and students to participate in on campus recruiting and yield events.
Conduct personalized on campus visits with prospective students and families. Coordinate with the WVU Visitors Center and College faculty to schedule guest visitations in undergraduate business and economics classes.
Collaborate with the College's strategic communications unit to create electronic and printed recruitment materials. Coordinate with the Director to determine a College-specific communications plan.
Travel within the state and around the region to meet with high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a baccalaureate degree in business administration or economics.
Track, monitor and communicate with applicants, admits, and deposits using the TargetX CRM system
Assist students with the University application process and make referrals to academic and student service support units when necessary (e.g. Office of Financial Aid, Housing and Residence Life, Office of Accessibility Services, etc.)
Oversee the recruitment, selection, and activities of the College's volunteer Student Ambassador Program (20-25 members).
Participate in New Student Orientation by assisting freshmen and transfer students with course registration and supporting the Academic Advising team.
Research and map community and technical colleges in the state and surrounding region that have large percentages of students who transfer to four-year institutions, including those earning associate degrees, with the intent of completing a baccalaureate degree.
Research and map high schools in the state and surrounding region with large percentages of graduates who continue on to post-secondary institutions, targeting high schools with graduates matriculating to professional programs such as business.
Assist with College events such as commencement, convocation, and other undergraduate program ceremonies.
Serve on University and College committees, task forces, and work groups as recommended by the director of recruitment & retention.
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in personal selling, corporate recruitment or college recruitment. Master's degree preferred. Two (2) years of Experience in Corporate and/or personal sales, or college admissions/recruiting or marketing/social media. One (1) year of prior experience working with traditional and non-traditional students (i.e. recruitment, advising, admissions) in secondary education, vocational school or higher education. Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent presentational and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and comprise effective recruitment and yield strategies. Personal selling and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to multi-task by managing multiple projects simultaneously. Competency in integrated promotions, personal selling and persuasion. Ability to conduct institutional research, data analysis and benchmarking. Proficiency in using applications such as the Microsoft Suite required. Proficiency in using applications such as Prezi, MailChimp, TargetX (SalesForce) preferred. Knowledge of federal financial aid application processes and deadlines.
