Goucher College, a Division III member of the NCAA and Landmark Conference, seeks a graduate assistant to work in conjunction with the head men's basketball coach in all aspects related to the operation of the men's basketball program.
Responsibilities include working within the NCAA, Landmark Conference, and department guidelines; and assisting the head coach with day to day operations including, but not limited to: recruiting, monitoring the student athletes success and progress, organizing practice and game strategies, and film breakdown. The graduate assistant will also assist with alumnae/i relations, fundraising, community service, and team building activities; manage equipment; conduct academic monitoring; and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree at the time of appointment, minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA, and a minimum of two years of driving experience on a state-issued license. The successful candidate must also possess excellent written and oral communication skills in order to interact with a diverse constituency including student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administration. Previous experience playing or coaching at the college level is preferred. Applicants must be willing to work with various departments on campus including, but not limited to: admissions, facilities, development, academic advising, and student affairs.
The graduate assistant must successfully enroll as a full-time student in the Graduate Programs in Education (GPE) with the area of specialization in Athletic Program Leadership and Administration. Qualified candidates must have at least an overall 3.0 undergraduate GPA to be considered for admission to the GPE.
This two year position, available beginning August 2021, is approximately 20 hours per week and will require weekend and evening work, including team travel. Compensation for this position will be offered as tuition remission and a stipend. The successful candidate will be subject to a background check and driving record check as a condition of employment.
