Location: Marshalltown Community College, Marshalltown, IA
Job Summary: This position serves as a key member of the Student Success Center team, which provides academic success services to the college. This position oversees the college’s tutoring and career services programs which includes individual work with students, development of related training/workshops, and other tasks supporting student learning and growth.
Abilities: Ability to build rapport with students and ask appropriate questions to determine student's motivation and career goals. Ability to build working relationships with all faculty and staff. Knowledge of financial aid processes and procedures. Knowledge of transfer policies, procedures and deadlines. Skill in utilizing general office equipment (fax, copy machine, computer, Microsoft Office, etc.). Ability to think ahead 2-3 years to help students successfully plan courses of study. Independent decision making, ability to exercise good judgment, and use of critical thinking skills. Skills with working in an environment with shifting priorities; frequent interruptions; hectic pace; and interaction with students, staff and/or the public. Working knowledge of computer software programs which may include Word, Excel, institutional mainframe computer software, or similar programs. Excellent written and oral communication skills including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to handle highly confidential matters and materials with discretion. Ability to work independently as well as be a collaborative team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines. Organizational skills, time management, relationship building and communication skills essential.
Additional Salary Information: Actual annual salary will be based on experience and education and calculated for a full fiscal year, which is pro-rated to start date and FTE.
