The Shipley School is an independent, coeducational day school for Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade students. Through a balance of rigor and support, students at Shipley become confident, successful individuals who have confidence to explore the world around them and are prepared to meet future challenges.
Shipley has a long tradition of preparing students for college and for full participation in the world. The School also has a long tradition of supporting diversity and of encouraging each student's development. Faculty teach with the individual in mind, so all types of learners are able to thrive at Shipley. While students may experience the curriculum in unique ways, a Shipley education remains rooted in a fundamental idea: the School believes in a rigorous educational standard, one designed to foster not only creativity and individual thinking, but a sense of preparedness and emotional development that equips students for success.
Assuming the role in July 2021, Shipley is seeking a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion who is responsible for engaging with internal and external stakeholders to advance racial equity and inclusion in all aspects of the School's culture and organizational practice. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader devoted to Shipley's mission and programs. The Director will also help oversee the implementation of the School's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan, which focuses on establishing policies and practices that directly address opportunities for growth in all areas related to racial equity and justice. This is an exceptional opportunity to help lead a high-quality school with deep ties to its community and an unwavering commitment to its mission.
