The Coordinator for Student Affairs, reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, provides leadership advising and maintains student groups (some OUWB chapters of national groups) and oversees the functioning of all student groups including the budgeting and financial approval process. In addition, the coordinator maintains the framework for the Medical Student Government (MSG) and assists students with all OU policies and procedures.
All Student Affairs sponsored medical student events will be organized and managed by the coordinator including, but not limited to, orientation week, white coat ceremony, match day, honors convocation and graduation. The coordinator will support other members of the Student Affairs staff in planning and executing smaller scale events including career advising and wellness and wellbeing events. The coordinator will interact with members of the University, Beaumont Health Systems, and the community.
Bachelor's degree in higher education or college student personnel or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Three years' experience in organizing student activities, planning and executing complex events.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to maintain strictest standards regarding confidentiality of all student information with dissemination only to authorized recipients.
Strong computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations.
Strong information design, development, and tracking skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills including the ability to compose, proofread and edit various types of communications and documents.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently and take initiative when appropriate.
Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for special events managed through the medical school student affairs office.
Experience in a medical school environment and curriculum.
Experience with advising student organizations, including medical school government.
Experience with maintaining a budget and managing financial oversight for student organizations.
