STAFF ASSOCIATE II FOR ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS , Office of Minority Education (OME) , to coordinate academic excellence and professional development programs for undergraduates, with a primary focus on underrepresented minority students (African American, Native American, Mexican American, Puerto Rican). The work will involve program administration (40%), academic advising (50%), and a variety of other duties (10%). Will be directly responsible for and/or assist with the planning and implementation of Momentum (interdisciplinary class for first/second-year students held over IAP), the Talented Scholars Resource Room (TSR^2) , The Standard (undergraduate, cohort-based, Men of Color initiative), the Laureates and Leaders /Pathway to Graduate School programs, and Interphase EDGE/IPx (summer enrichment and academic-year campus and virtual program). Will also advise undergraduate men of color in The Standard and support advising needs of the Laureates and Leaders and Interphase EDGE/IPx programs; and assist with the Committee on Academic Performance review process.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in a STEM, education, and/or counseling field; at least two years' college-level student advising experience; excellent management, organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in collaboration with all levels of staff; knowledge of/willingness to learn about the issues, best practices, current research, and innovations in teaching and learning in higher education in general and in science and engineering specifically; initiative; ability and willingness to collaborate within an interdisciplinary group/team; advanced-level proficiency with Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro, Photoshop, PowerPoint, etc.; and ability to work with minimal supervision.
