The Parent & Family Services Coordinator assists with the design and implementation of all family services, including orientation programming, signature family events and virtual family initiatives. In addition to programming efforts, the position includes management of retention initiatives and direct outreach to parents, families, and students. Additionally, the position will coordinate and maintain departmental communications, social media, and publications.
Assist with the planning and execution of new and current department events such as Welcome Week Activities, Parent & Family Weekend, Spring Family Day, Virtual Family Initiatives, and Virtual Family Initiatives. Assist the Director of Transition Services and Assistant Director of Parent & Family Services in the day-to day operations, as well as parent and family engagement and retention initiatives of the Parent & Family Services Department. Responsible for design, editing, production, and distribution of marketing and communications for parent and families including oversight of social media accounts, website updates, annual family resource guide, and the parent and family communication portal newsletters. Responsible for planning and implementing Orientation programming for families and guests in collaboration with Orientation staff and campus partners. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, development, and supervision of student staff. Assist with membership management database for the Maverick Parent & Family Association. Assist in gift/donation reporting. Represent Parent & Family Services on various campus committees as assigned by supervisor, recruitment events, and other activities sponsored by the University and Division of Student Affairs; as well as professional development opportunities, including professional conferences. Assist with day to day office operations for parent and family programs including but not limited to membership benefit support, answering emails/calls from parents and families, and administrative responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Experience working in higher education. Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with a diverse population; excellent writing and public speaking skills. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating events. Master's Degree required and three years of full-time experience in Higher Education orientation and/or parent and family programming. Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, the needs of families (and students) in transition, FERPA and the core elements of successful programming, budget planning, fundraising strategies and student advising techniques. Provide a successful record of successful program development and management, experience hiring, training, and supervising college students. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong assessment experience.
