The Academy of Notre Dame is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant Principal. This person will assist the Principal in supervising the daily operations of the elementary school as well as the development of the faculty, curriculum, academics and co-curricular programs.
Acts as Principal in Principal’s absence.
Assists the Principal and faculty to preserve, develop and fulfill the philosophy and objectives of the school.
Assists the Principal in the creation of a climate in which faculty, staff, and students develop their spiritual and human potential.
Assists the Principal in providing for the supervision and evaluation of the faculty and staff and to assist in their professional development.
Assists the Principal in the supervision and evaluation of the total curriculum relevant to student needs and abilities.
Utilizes test results in analyzing program effectiveness.
Assists the Principal in the selection and assignment of elementary school personnel.
Assists the Principal in recruiting substitutes and arranging for coverage of classes required by the absences of teachers.
Assists the Principal with the orientation of new faculty and students.
Assists the Principal in all matters related to busing.
Attends academic and/or social events related to school business as directed by the Principal or the Head of School.
Leads and/or facilitates faculty/staff meetings, student support team meetings, and grade level meetings.
Plans, coordinates, conducts and participates in ongoing professional and staff development.
Communicates effectively with the various constituencies of the school community.
Applies knowledge of current research and theory in the educational field.
Supervises and evaluates teachers and staff members as assigned by the Principal.
Supervises the effective operation of the cafeteria during student lunches and at recess.
Supervises the preparation of student schedules, class schedules, and extracurricular activities/field trips.
Maintains discipline throughout the student body and supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance.
Works with Principal and staff in compiling the annual budget requests.
Serves on the Leadership Team
Possesses strong leadership skills to effectively problem-solve, guide, and coach staff in best practices, and supports a school climate which promotes effective teaching and learning for all students.
Maintains confidentiality requirements regarding student records.
Emphasizes student academic growth and social emotional development as program outcomes.
Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as delegated or required by the Principal or Head of School.
Minimum of 3 years prior administrative experience or equivalent
Strong management and administration skills
Minimum 3 years prior administrator experience at the elementary school level
Masters Degree Required
