Summary of Duties:
Cougar Health Services (CHS) physicians provide primary care for WSU students. This practice requires competence in general medicine, gynecology, sports medicine, trauma, infectious diseases including STIs, minor surgical skills, dermatology, women's health and psychosocial medicine using current standards of care. Provider practices within the scope of a board-certified provider to prescribe, administer, and dispense contraceptive products and be a resource for students seeking family planning options in a primary care clinic. This includes providing education to patients which may include counseling them about family planning, sexual health, and reproductive medicine. Patients needing mental health services may be referred to WSU Counseling & Psychological Services and Behavioral Health to the staff psychiatrist, or to other community mental health professionals. In all interactions professionalism, teamwork, preventive care, patient education and cost-effective practice styles are valued. Physicians also support CHS and the university through non-clinical work when requested.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO). Completion of an accredited residency program in area of practice. Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, licensure as a doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) by the State of Washington.
M.D. / D.O. degree; board eligible or board certified in a primary care specialty.
Ability to obtain DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) certification by time of hire.
Ability to obtain privileges at Pullman Regional Hospital.
Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
Three (3) years of experience in a primary care setting.
