The College of Education at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed-term position as an instructor/assistant professor of global education in the Department of Teacher Education. This position is full-time appointment on a 9-month basis. The job comes with a one-year contract, for possibility of renewal each year and reports directly to the Department Chair.
The successful candidate will assume responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research, and program coordination. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for 1) creating professional learning communities around global education; 2) coordinating efforts for the Global Educators Cohort Program (GECP); and 3) teaching courses in preservice global education in our teacher preparation program and courses in our master of arts in teaching and curriculum program. A broad interest in language education, co-curricular learning for future global teachers, and ongoing professional development around global education is desired but not required.
Job responsibilities related to GECP coordination include:
Coordinating with the Office of Student Affairs (and possibly New Student Orientation) to recruit and welcome students into the GECP through the College of Education Colloquium and onboarding activities;
Providing leadership in the planning and development of the GECP;
Tracking student progress in meeting program requirements and matriculation through the teacher preparation program;
Working with GECP Director on program development, evaluation and assessment.

Experience developing and managing international educational programing, experience planning events; experience with data management and/or program evaluation; experience creating and supporting co-curricular opportunities in global education for future teachers; experience using technology to solve problems.
