Job Summary: Frederica Academy seeks an Upper School Academic Center Specialist to begin in August 2021. The role of the Upper School Academic Center Specialist is to provide support, intervention, remediation, or enrichment to the students who use the Academic Center. The teacher’s broad area of responsibility is to ensure that each student may learn and flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually in a nurturing school environment. The Academic Center Specialist reports to the Upper School Director.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Upper School Academic Center Specialist is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to: ? Develops general knowledge of the Upper School curricula, including the essential information, concepts and skills so as to better support students. ? Develops a rapport with all students who enter the Academic Center and determines if they need assistance ? Works with all students to ensure academic success including weekly monitoring of their progress and identifies areas in need of improvement or enrichment ? Provides study skills techniques to students ? Prepare Accommodation Plans in coordination with the Upper School Director ? Proctors extended time on US standardized tests, classroom assessments, and semester exams ? Attends and participates in weekly faculty meetings, school functions, and professional development activities during and after school hours as needed, appropriate and assigned ? Adheres to strict student confidentiality ? Performs other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Upper School Director and/or Head of School
Requirements: ? Bachelor’s degree in a related field ? Master’s degree is preferred ? A strong desire to work in a collaborative community ? Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of learning styles and a range of abilities. ? Ethical behavior, professionalism and a respect for diversity ? It is preferable that applicant has multiple years of Upper School experience in an independent school atmosphere
