The new Associate Director of Upper School Admission and Outreach shares this zeal for lifelong learning and embraces the opportunity to introduce prospective families to this special School community. This emerging leader is especially eager to meaningfully shape the Upper School student body by helping to develop and execute a strategic plan to increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of applicants. With the support of their teammates on the knowledgeable, entrepreneurial Enrollment Management team, and partnering with the creative, solutions-focused Communications team, this person will initiate and sustain outreach with partner organizations and feeder schools as well as direct and implement an Upper School recruitment marketing plan. The associate director will travel locally, nationally, or internationally to meet prospective families for Grades 9 to 12, stewarding them through all steps of the application consideration process, and in subsequent years, assisting with the re-enrollment process.
Develop sustainable relationships with current families in the Upper School, facilitating regular feedback, gatherings hosted at the homes of current parents, and the cultivation of prospects designated by current parents
Guide students and families through the application process, maximizing yield and enrollment goals in the Upper School, and ensuring strong relationships and effective communication with parents and prospective students
Secure and manage the Gold Key Tour Guide program that allows all prospective families to see the campus through the eyes of a current student, or pair of students, whether in person or online
Assist applicants through the Upper School enrollment process, including: conducting family interviews; overseeing assessments; assisting with assessments as needed; ensuring successful class visits and overnight visits as appropriate; and conducting events connected to yielding students
Develop and manage an approved strategic outreach plan to identify and build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and key influencers who may help grow the pipeline of mission-appropriate applicants to the School.
Implement an approved Upper School recruitment marketing plan and offer ideas on how to expand the number of prospects considering our School as a top choice for their child
Create a travel plan for recruitment for the residential program, be prepared to represent the School locally, nationally, and internationally
Develop and maintain contact with consultants and agencies who assist in promoting the Upper School to families nationally and internationally
Develop and manage an articulated strategic retention strategy that fosters re-enrollment for the Upper School, as well as the matriculation of Grade 8 students
Participate in decision-making as a member of the Upper School Admission Committee, assuming management of the committee beginning with the 2022-23 school year
Counsel new applicant families on how to complete the financial aid application process and prepare data regarding newly accepted families for consideration by the Financial Aid Committee
Work with the Parents' Association representatives to the Upper School in the selection and training of parent ambassadors to support and maintain contact with prospective families throughout the year
Prepare reports and analyze data about the Upper School admission process on a weekly basis, for use by the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment Management and Board of Trustees
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; master's degree a plus
3-5 years of professional experience in student recruitment, client account management, B2B sales, or related industry.
Prior experience working in an independent school or college admission office will be viewed favorably
Previous experience with marketing and/or strategic planning required. A self-starter who is unafraid to propose new ideas and to take calculated, data-informed risks
Believes in the value of education. Experience working with, teaching, or coaching Upper School students an asset
Proven ability to use technology and high-touch contacts to help move prospective families through the decision-making process
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential situations and materials
Experience working in a team environment that requires independent follow-through
Possesses a high level of cultural competence and ability to perform effectively in cross-cultural situations, both domestically and internationally. Being bilingual or multilingual is preferred
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Ability to attend evening and weekend events and to travel representing the School
Proficiency in Google Workspace (previously G Suite) applications required
Working knowledge of financial aid and admission database software preferred
