Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning, including:
Providing classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, and facilitating learning
Evaluating and advising students;
Developing and/or revising curriculum;
Participating in department meetings, program advisory committee meetings, and college-wide events;
Participating in Program Review and planning
Maintaining technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events;
Promoting diversity and cultural competency;
Performing other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Associate degree and a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology or an associate degree in nursing.
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified operating room experience as a practicing surgical technologist (scrub role) or an operating room nurse including scrub experience.
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA formerly LCC-ST)
Bachelor's degree in allied healthcare
Experience in curriculum development
Experience in clinical preceptorship or hands-on instruction
Working knowledge and understanding of sterile processing practices and standards
Demonstrated classroom leadership
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in education and the workplace
