The Student Health and Well-being (SHW) cluster at UC San Diego, which reports through UC San Diego Health System, plays a leadership role in creating a strong and active well-being culture that enables all students to flourish in body, mind and spirit. Under the oversight of the executive director, the SHW cluster includes the departments of Student Health Services (SHS), Health Promotion Services (HPS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and SHW Administration.
CAPS delivers campus-based mental health services to over 40,000 registered UCSD undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students. CAPS' multicultural, multidisciplinary, and student-centered staff strives to deliver culturally proficient counseling services, outreach programming, consultation, research, and training opportunities. In collaboration with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, CAPS services support the academic mission of the University aimed at student success and retention and works toward the maintenance of an inclusive and healthy living and learning environment for individuals to flourish as they pursue their academic and career goals. CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services and the Post-doctoral Resident Training Program is APPIC affiliated. CAPS is fully committed to self-examination, peer review, and quality improvement through the utilization of data, outcome, and client experience measurements.
This position will serve as an experienced Behavioral Health Coordinator/ Counseling Psychologist who is multiculturally proficient/affirming and possesses specific training, skills and demonstrated experience in providing behavioral health services and oversight of behavioral health programs. Incumbent will lead the Behavioral Health consultation services embedded within Student Health Services (SHS), while also working collaboratively with Health Promotion Services (HPS). The ongoing development of this CAPS branch at SHS through Behavioral Health Services, staffed by CAPS clinicians and providing services, is vital to achieving our vision of providing high quality integrated medical and mental health services to the UC San Diego student population and campus community. The Behavioral Health Services will be staffed by the Behavioral Health Services Coordinator, SHS Licensed Clinical Social Worker and CAPS Post-Doctoral Resident. Behavioral Health Services is expected to grow over time.

Current, valid license in California as a psychologist. Out-of-state licensed psychologists have 180 days to complete licensure requirements in the State of California.
Ph.D or Psy.D. from an accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology and completion of an APA/CPA accredited internship.
Specialized training in integrated behavioral health.
Experience consulting with treatment teams in medical settings.
Experience co-treating patients with conditions such as addiction, insomnia, headache, eating disorders, etc.
Experience in the delivery of psycho-educational interventions to prevent illness, promote health and manage disease
Demonstrated ability to conduct culturally proficient and focused individual and group counseling and psychotherapy.
Experience providing clinical services for the wide range of presenting issues seen in college students, including assessing and managing risk and the treatment of serious concerns (e.g., eating disorders, personality disorders).
Demonstrated skills to conduct clinical intake interviews, psycho-diagnostic assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan formulation, recommendations and disposition.
Proven ability to develop and implement culturally proficient and effective outreach programs and provide consultation, mental health promotion, and preventative psycho-educational outreach services.
Ability to work well and energetically in a fast paced service environment with changing priorities, serving a large volume of students effectively on an appointment or walk-in bases.
Knowledge of clinical supervision, organizational consulting techniques, systems and community psychology models and approaches with demonstrated skills in consultation work with professional and non-professio
